the snow was coming down, and it was cold ...
i plugged in the hot plate and put the wok ontop ... it took
a while but it got warm and eventually hot ...
i poured a plastic bucket of green beans into the wok and waited.
my nose was cold, my cheeks and fingers ... eventually i used my wooden spoon
and stirred the beans.

they smoked a little, the guy walking his dog asked what i was up to, i chatted and kept stirring ...
i turned down the heat from 10 to 8 and listened to the cracks and sizzles and watched the smoke.
i wasn't there yet .. they were light brown .. cinnamon colored ..
i turned the heat up and turned and shook the wok
and watched the beans as they eventually went from tan to brown ..

when they were done i put them in the bag to let them cool down, and out gas and wait until i needed them ..

last night it was getting late, i had processed a few rolls and realized my supply of sumatranol was not doing well ..
i removed 750cc and went to make some coffee ...
i scooped 11 scoops, and filled the perk to 10 ...
i put water in, and plugged it in ...
i took out the jezvah and put a scoop in the grinder ..
on 10 its like flour
into the jezvah as the perk bubbled and made sounds
a half teaspoon of sugar
on the heat
then the water

it boiled
.... 3 times the foam went up
and down
my cup was ready.

the perk stopped and i unplugged it ..
my coffee was ready as i put the cup down
and filled it
steaming and dark, smelling like flowers

the room was dark as i sipped slowly
it wasn't as bad as i remember ..
sweet from the sugar but it reminded me of the smells of summertime ..

when i was done i put the cup on the plate and turned it 3 times ..
i waited and put my thumbprint on the bottom, not looking untll the end.

i studied the cup.
there was a woman, sparkly stones and a trail ...

it was getting late and i worked on a selling page on ebay ..
i wrote my descriptions and uploaded images that looked like
static, the sun on the water .. i soon grew tired and went to sleep.
it was morning and the clock said 6:30 ..
as i shook the sleep from my head l thought of the dream i just had
the warm summer sun at the beach with my wife and kids.

===

this film was processed today in the coffee i made last nght.
i agitated for 1min then the film steeped for 28minutes when i agitated again, for 40 seconds.

    j,

Ya think your images have more flavor than if you just used cheap store bought coffee? Of course you wouldn't have the pleasure of smoking beans for your olfactory delight.

    Nice writing.

    hi tim

i used the cheaper store bought stuff for about 5 years ..
it worked OK ... this stuff is even cheaper
and i don't have to worry about any arabica beans in my coffee !

thanks for your concern and nice comment

    John ,

I always make the coffee at home for my mother. I found 4 things were important.

First , you must put lots of coffee in to the cezve. I bought an military green white interior enamel small cezve from Etsy , made in Poland and put 4 lots of full teaspoon of Turkish Coffee.
Second , you must stir coffee , water , sugar mix until the bubbles go away.
Third , you must use high heat to make it right. Not electric , real fire.
Fourth, only the first go up is enough and best with high heat

    Take care,
    Umut

    you're the man ..
thanks for your personal recipe+method .. coffee in the blood and genes ..

my cezve is the same kind as yours, but one is small (brown ) the other is big ( blue ) white
interior enamel .. but they say "yugoslavia" on the bottom
thanks to the ottoman conquest of europe, the whole world is addicted ...to THE BEAN and making real coffee !

off to feed the monkey on my back, and read what the day has in store for me ..
