EOS 3 00 aperture issue

Hello,

I'm having a bit of a problem every now and then with my EOS 3. When shooting the aperture will show 00 and I will have to remove the lens and remount it to continue. The rest of the controls all work fine, it is just the aperture that shows 00 and the shutter won't release until I remount the lens.

Now I thought this might be a lens related issue (Tamron 28-75) but there is no such problem with a Rebel 2000 body I also have. I have another cheap Canon zoom that I could use but I don't want to burn film for that as the issue is not very frequent. It happened maybe 5-6 times over 10 rolls.

I also get the impression it is only happening when film is loaded as I fired off a hundred or so frames with no film and there were no issues.

Has anyone had any such issues? I thought it might be a battery problem but I replaced the battery with a new one and made sure all contacts in the chamber and lens mount are clean, yet it doesn't seem to solve the problem.

Anyone else with such problems? Not a big issue, I can get another body for £70-100, but it is annoying.

Hello everyone,
I was walking around a swapmeet when I noticed a lucky enlarger. For $10 I couldn't refuse. I checked everything out and it's all in working order. The only problem is a little bit of rust peppered here and there and a lot of dust. So my question is what's the best way to clean the lenses and what can I do about the rust.

In the new year I will be embarking on a mission to shoot one film and develope the film in one developer. I will be shooting with a Sinar F that my school owns. The only question left is what film/developer combonation to use. I do mainly landscape work and I have no problems with long exposures or long developing times. I've been looking at a few different films: ADOX 25, Efke 25, FP4+, T-max 100, Foma 100 (baisically anything from freestyle that is 4x5). I have no idea what combination of film and developer would give me maximum sharpness while still allowing me to experiment with expantion and contraction processing. All ideas and pieces of advice are appreciated.

Hi all

just a reminder the next photo market is on Sunday week the 19th September at the Box Hill Town Hall, Whitehorse Rd, Box Hill - starting at 9am.

Admission is still only $2.

I'm on the organising committee, and we have listened to the feedback from the last market, and are trying a new table layout. Hopefully the new layout will spread people out a bit more so there will be more room around the tables.

I'm also sharing a table with a friend of mine -I'll be near the front door, so drop by and say hi. Just look for the table with the Pentax 67 outfit on it (roughish, but working well and cheap), a Graphic View 5X4 and a few interesting darkroom bits..

See you then

I just obtained a lovely, mint-condition LPL 670DXL via the local Craig's list for very little money. It seems to be a very well made and ergonomic enlarger and I am looking forward to using it. Unfortunately, it only came with a 35 mm slide carrier and I plan to use it exclusively for medium format (6x6). I have borrowed a Nikkor 75 mm lens from a friend.

Unfortunately, the negative carriers (new) cost more than half of what I paid for the enlarger. Used ones seem to be very rare on ebay and I haven't seen any used 6x6 carriers from the Canadian supplier. My question is: can the 35 mm carrier be easily modified for 6x6 or can another brand be used (such as Omega)? Sadly, when I retired, I lost my access to a nice machine shop, so serious machine work is impractical.

Next, do you recommend the carriers with glass covers? I am not sure that there is a 6x6 with glass, but I believe there is a universal carrier with such a cover. These might easily cost more than I paid for the enlarger, but they might be worth the money.

Thanks very much.

Hi there,

Yep, this is going to be another of those "what do you think threads?" that will no doubt include the "why not try it for yourself and see" response, however i will still plough ahead.

I currently shot primarily FP4 dev'd in stock ID11 oneshot and have had some success with HP5 and Adox CHS with the same dev. I intend to keep with the same film choices but am considering switching to using Xtol (or at least giving it a fair crack over the winter).

I have read some about this dev and it *seems* to be finer grained, with shadow detail at box speed than D76 or ID11 (don't know how true this is). I am thinking of using Xtol as a reusable stock solution, with replenishment of around 75/100ml per film rather than as a one-shot dev.

I have read that that as a stock solution, it *beds down* after processing a couple of rolls - is this true? What is the change between fresh and *bedded down*? I have seen times of 5 mins for ID11 at 20C - this seems short and worries me slightly, I like longer times as minor variations have less of an effect over a longer time than a short time, thoughts on times with Xtol?

Can Xtol die really quickly with no warning, even a stock solution?

Open ended bit here - any thoughts on using Xtol with FP4, HP5 or Adox CHS? Good bits, bad bits - bring it on..........

Thanks for your time,

I'm curious what you Hasselblad users are using for a bag. I'm looking for something light that doesn't scream "steal me I'm a camera bag".

I'm looking for one that can hold a Hassy 500 with an 80mm lens, plus two rangefinder cameras.

Most of the listings I see are advertising how they hold a DSLR and a 70-200 vertically. I'd be leary of carrying a Hassy vertically for some reason. Can anyone share their experiences?

Thanks,

Hey all,

I will be participating in the ZONE Art Center 30th Reunion exhibition. The reception is next Saturday Sept 11th from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the Canal Gallery, 380 Dwight St, Holyoke, MA. I will have three prints in the show. The exhibit is scheduled to run for two weeks.

ZONE was an artist-run non-profit art space located on Dwight St in Springfield, MA (we recognize the irony of the two street addresses), and was in existence from 1980 - 1995. I was a board member for the life of the organization.

After the exhibit's reception and starting at 8:00 pm is the music portion of the event with many of the local rock/punk bands that played at ZONE's All-Ages shows in the '80s. I don't know if my old ears will be able to take too much of that part of the event! ;)

I know it's a little late announcing this but it's been a long strange summer.

Hi, all -

I bought this camera and CLA'd it a while ago. Film tested, and set aside. You see, the camera works nicely. But it needs a new skin. The existing leatherette is bad. But everything else is good.

This is a MIOJ-vintage I rangefinder with the Hexar lens, which is in fantastic condition. Shutter's been CLA'd and is working well. Rangefinder's accurate. Advance and counter are working correctly. All good.

Some images from the test roll:

Like I said, though, it needs a new cover. Sheets of leatherette are available from cameraleather.com for as little as $12 or so, though a pre-cut kit for this camera isn't available. But it's not a difficault camera to cut new pieces for. Or, if you're not concerned with appearances, shoot it as-is. Either way, I need it gone. And since it's ugly, I'm selling it cheap. $65 plus shipping, PayPal only.

Hi,
I recently got a Yashica Mat 124 that is in a very bad state.
One of the problems is a jammed battery cover that wouldn't open. Its the usual screw-in type with a slit in the lid that you could open with a coin. But this one doesn't move a bit.
The camera is really dirty but it shows signs of a leaky battery (greenish-white residue) too, so the cover could be jammed due to corrosion.
Does somebody of you know what to do in such a case?

I have been building a film processor for my darkroom to allow better temperature control than what my Unicolor motor base can provide. Taking a note from Jobo, I use their drums, but everything else is off-the-shelf parts from the hardware store or kitchen supply store.

The base is a 36x18 inch piece of melamine intended to be a bookshelf. I reinforced it with perforated angle steel and bolts to prevent sagging, then installed leveling feet. The water tank is a stainless steel buffet tray from the kitchen store with a perforated tray to provide a raised surface above the heating element.

The heater and pump are from a pet store and hold the water steady at 100°F very well. The thermostat on the heater only goes to 92°, but it had a slot in the back for an allen wrench to adjust it, so while it reads 92° on the dial, the actual temperature is 100°F. The pump is a small submersible one for lizard tanks.

The drum is supported by two stainless steel rods that rest in some of the perforations of the inner tray. The rollers are teflon rod that came with centered holes, I just cut them to length. I am still building the motor section, but it is the guts of a Unicolor base put into a new box, and I have removed one of the large wheels from the axle, then extended the axle and placed a large fender washer on the end to connect to the magnet on the base of the drum. I'll post pictures of that part once I finish it.

I built this for the challenge, and for the fact that I can easily replace any part without having to hunt down old Jobo parts. My motor may eventually give out, but I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

While rearranging my film freezer I found an unopened box of Arista Pro 400 asa 4x5 film exp date 9/2000. It says made in england. Can anyone tell me what brand of film it is? I know it was bought from Freestyle along with a box of Arista Pro 125asa 4x5 dated 2/1996 which is also very out of date and also made in england. Is it possible that these are Ilford films? They have always been kept at -10 deg and the freezer is lead lined so I guess I'll try a few shots with each to see if they are worth using. I have three lead lined freezers for film and paper from when I was a busy pro and I've been emptying them over the years and have not been replenishing my supplies. Last month I found a 250 sheet box of trix pro 320 from 1968 and naturally it was very fogged. I hate wasting materials like this just because I was careless in my inventory record keeping. Please tell me that I'm not the only one who has ever done this.
