This lifts the P. rollers just enough not to be a problem. The cover is then put back in place and you are ready to go. Just remember to take care not to loose the washer inside of the printer. That's the most difficult step.

I placed the washer under the two screws which would affect the heigth of the bracket, but still got the marks. So I decided screw it and realized I could just pull the whole bracket off

Don,
Push the yellow button as if you were changing an ink cartridge. When the print head starts to move over unplug (DO NOT TURN OFF!!!) the printer from the wall/power strip/etc. This will now allow you to move the print head up and down its track just by pushing on it. There are two more screws in addition to the one you know of that you need to unscrew. If you pull up on the left-hand side you can easily trace the tension to the right-hand screw. The last screw is on the outside and sits perpendicular to the other two screws. Once you've unscrewed the last one you can pull the entire bracket off to the left--not straight up as the print head and a retaining bar prevent that.
