One more curious question. Has anyone taken a colour digital file and just 'reversed' the colours in PS and printed that out onto a substrate/acetate for printing on colour paper?

Nope, but if you're interested and don't have any substrate to print on you can send me a negative or digital file and I print one for you and then mail it. Just like with black and white you would still need to fashion a curve, but you could get a good idea of whether or not it was worth your time.
Let's see what I've got in the magic trash can for Mateo!

Hi Jeremy,
I'll take you up on that offer. I'll e-mail you a location on my website where you can download a file (that I have reversed) and I'll give it a try. I'll make two even and send you one. I have no idea how it'll turn out, but that's the fun part of experimenting!
Regards, Art.
