Anyone using the Epson 4000 with OHP?
Hello folks,
I've got a friend who has recently purchased an Epson 4000 printer, and has been trying to get it to accept OHP film for printing enlarged negatives without success.
I'm wondering if anyone out there has any experiece with OHP in the printer, and can give some input on the process?
He and I have both had success using OHP in a 1280 and a 2200, so the process is not new to us, but for some reason we cannot get the 4000 to accept the film for printing. If we try to manually feed it, it doesn't seem to see it, and if we try to feed it with backing paper, it states that the sheet was inserted crooked.
Anyone out there who can offer some input?

Michael,
You need to ask this question on the alt process list if you don't get an answer here. There are a number of digineg photogs there who can help.
You can also try emailing Mark Nelson directly to see if he has any suggestions (he has always responded to me within 24 hours).
Sorry I couldn't be more help personally.
Let's see what I've got in the magic trash can for Mateo!

if I well remember Mehmet Kismet who ask some question in this gray area use an Epson 4000 but he use Agfa copyjet instead of Pictorico OHP. You may ask him how he did. you could PM him

I think we've got it parially figured out. We needed to turn off the sensor eye to not have it check on paper size and alignment.
After that, we made a negative without problem.
What's sad is that the printer manuals have no information on this capability, or any information on printing on overhead film. I guess they expect you to not print on anything but their paper.

Michael,
As Christian mentioned, I am using Epson 4000 for PDNs. I started with OHP, and now I am also using AGFA Copyjet, with the great help of Christian Nze.
The trick I made was to check "off" the items " PAPER SIZE CHECK" and "SHEET SIZE CHECK" or some words similar, in the menu of the printer. This is done with the buttons on the right side of the printer.
Another point to add, if any time you will want to make PDN for silver gelatin papers, the standard ink density of the printer is not enough to bring adequate density, so I increase the density of ink by 10%.
Hoping to be helpful,
Best
