    35mm Scanner Question

    All,

I was looking at purchasing a 35mm slide scanner and have basically settled on two models: DiMAGE Scan Elite 5400 II and the Nikon Coolscan V ED, 4000 dpi. Both are similar in price, but different in the final dpi rating. I am leaning more towards the Nikon, but wonder what your thoughts are?

BTW, it will probably be a couple of months before I buy it; I'm off on a trip in October first.

    Thanks,
    Robert M. Teague

I think there are probably dozens of threads on this at photo.net, so you might want to check there. Dynamic range and the quality of the light source and optics will probably make more of a difference than the claimed DPI for scanners in this range, I'd think.
