Hi! In the photo 2 class I am taking this semester we are scanning our negs and printing digitally. Of course I was disappointed b/c I really wanted to dig deeper in the darkroom (I am doing that on my own, though) but am trying to make the best of it and am still learning lots of stuff.

Part of our next project is to learn something new on our own whether it be a skill in photoshop, a camera technique etc. I have seen one photographer, Mark Tucker, who (in his personal work not his commerical stuff) applies Wingel and Oleopasto to his epson prints to get very painterly effects. Wingel and Oleopasto are no longer on the market :-( I was wondering if anyone else applies varnishes and coatings to their prints and if so what was their experience with the procedure. I want to do something "hands on" rather than some cheesy PS affect. Also, since we are shooting B&W I don't know how the varnish etc will look--I have only seen it done with color stuff.

I would appreciate all advice and ideas you folks might throw my way.

Thanks,

Sunny
