I have been courting the digital side.
I have been courting the digital side.
I finally came to the opinion that the digital side is simply another avenue for revenue. I love the traditional methods, but now for me it is time to offer both.

Peter knowing the venue of this website, why post this here? if you want to go digital and offer both, then why do you need the condemnation or the opinion of the apug community, I am just curious, go digital and have a ball, but please find someplace else devoted to digital to discuss it.

Sorry Peter, but I agree with Dave. That is a subject you should keep to yourself, and just enjoy APUG for its traditional content.

Peter
The music industry isn't making waxed cylinders anymore.
I consider myself an analog photographer, but need digital for making a living. My bank doesn't care when depositing my checks whether I did the job with film, wet plate or digital. Any given day I'd rather shoot film on my 8x10 field camera, but I look forward to the delivery of my Nikon D200 cameras next week.
It is important to post your thoughts.

Why? The whole purpose of APUG is to provide a refuge from being inundated with digital rants (not that Peter is doing such). The membership here has made it clear they don't want to see such posts.
There is a place to discuss digital, either discuss it in the "Grey Area Subform" or on some other forum.

I repeat,
This is an analog traditional photographic website, every single one of us here know the digital side of things, but as has been said in the past, this is not the venue to discuss it in, even in the Lounge, if at all it belongs in the soapbox, yes thoughts are important, and yes, the world continues moving one, but posting of this nature is very disrespectful of the rest of the membership here, there is nothing in this type of posting that will cause anything but a flame war, which we don't need!
Peter, have fun with both venues, but please respect the rest of us.

I meant no disrespect. I apologize for offending anyone. I myself love the traditional methods, and won’t give them up.
Again please accept my apologies for offending anyone.

Thanks for everyone posting their thoughts. They are all important and of value whether one agrees or disagrees.

Peter, I wasn't offended, it just wasn't the right place for you post. But, now that the thread has been moved to the Grey Area, perhaps you can explain to us what you mean by "digital side is simply another avenue for revenue". Is there something you feel you can do in digital that you can't do using film and paper?

I would say that every single one on APUG knows that digital 'exists'. To say that everyone of us knows the digital side of things is probably giving a lot of people more credit than they deserve (and possibly even want).
But, I have to agree with the views of others. If it's APUG, keep the digi-talk in the Grey-area. Glad to see it's been moved now.
I got smacked early on, but if you play by the rules, this can be a good place to exchange ideas.
Give us the skinny on your digital dilemma.
