    Nathan,

I feel your pain regarding the 'monochrome West Desert'. Here's a link to my project I'm working on right now:

EDIT: Your prints look very nice. We need to get together sometime and compare notes on digital negatives. I have the PDN system but somehow never got it to work quite right with the Epson 4000.

    Hello Michael,

We have crossed paths before. I consider the "monochrome West Desert" a rare pleasure, not a pain. I'll be frank, so far, PDN has not worked for me either. I am using the Epson 7600 with MIS Eboni Inks. Really nice "black only" proofs. But I do not consider these serious "analogue" prints. I want silver, platinum, carbon, photo gravure, anything substantial. I'll check your link again. I think you have my numbers.

Anyhow, keep up the good work, here in the "West Desert", where it counts...

    Nathan

    Hi Michael,

Really strong images of places I know oh-so-well. I was a brine shrimper--owned my own company out there for 10 years. I spent months and months out there camping, fishing --most spectacular landscape I ever saw. This is good work. You should try to find some of John Telford's material. He worked out there in the late 1970's with a 4X5. ---Some of the finest photography I've ever seen. I have some skimpy images in 35mm. But I was far to seriously busy working to make images. ---Though my mind abounds with them. And I hope to return with the appropriate materials one day. One great landscape!!!

    Thanks for sharing,

    Nathan

Nathan, both are very lovely images, but I would like to offer my comment on both.

First off, the shadows in the first image are VERY imporant to hold detail in, however they seen rather "flat" looking. I would like to see more contrast separation in the low values.

The second image is very strong also, but always becareful with placing your horizon line in the middle of the image. The highlights of the water all contain detail, but I would like to see them "pop" just abit more and really give a stronger sense of light.

Now of course, I am making these comments on print quality, but viewing images online. My computer is properly calibrated, however I am unsure of your scanning ect.

Keep up the good work, and I will search around to see if I can find anymore of your images here.
