    Epson V-750 at Adorama

Adorama supposedly has the new V-750.

Here is the link for details. The description is confusing though as it references the V-700 not the V-750.

If the specs are real it could be a hell of a scanner. I'm about due for an upgrade!

    Don,

The specifications look good but I am going to wait and see how efficient the scanner is in delivering true resolution in lppm. The Epson 4990 has optical resolution of 4800 dpi, which in theory should amount to about 78 lppm. In practice the actual resolution, assuming a pixel to lppi of 2.5:1, is closer to 40 lppm. 40 lppm is more than enough for my purpose in scanning 5X7, but the problem is that because of the loss of effieciency I have to scan at 4800 dpi, which creates huge files from a 5X7 negative, then downsize to 2400-3200 dpi for storage.

    Sandy
