Zone system in PS

Is there a way to do the zone system in photoshop?

Norman,
As you know, the zone system is a way of controlling the tones captured by the film. If that hasn't been done adequately at the time of exposure and development, PS can't help you, since the computer has insufficient information to work with.
It's a bit like asking if a certain enlarger can do the zone system - by the time you're ready to print (or scan), the zone system is redundant.
Cheers,

I don't know what to say, except that I reported this question - which is not my own but which I found at the URL cited - because it seemed oddly funny. It was moved here from the lounge section where I originally placed it. Apparently, the moderator(s) thought this was a serious question.

Well, as I see it, the issue is what to do with the extra zones....
Ansel had zones 0 through 9...
Photoshop has 0 through 255....
As long as we're having fun with this....

Now I understand Norman - I thought you were serious too. Why else would you bother posting it?
It probably should have stayed in that other forum, where I wouldn't have wasted my time answering it.
Cheers,

Joe put it better than I did. I thought we might have some fun with it.

Feel free. Kick it around all you like - I'll stay out of it from now on.
