Lens relube/repair?
Hi,
I have an old Mir lens that is very stiff. I've tried getting it apart to relube but it's stumped me.
Anyone have a recommendation for a reasonable/low-priced repair person in the UK that can take a lens apart and relube it?
It's not a valuable lens, so it'd need to be cheapish.
thanks
Matt

There's a website I came across recently on repairing and re-lubricating a Pentacon/Oreston lens, it might help.
It may have been this one
That may help you, I've certainly repaired a Soligor lens about 25+ years ago, it's just finding the right screws.

Depends what you call cheapish. I know a guy that does it but I think it's £30-ish including carriage. His e-mail is camerarepairer@btopenworld.com
Cheers, Lol

Lol, for £30 you could probably just buy two better MIR lenses

Love is probably too strong a word. I quite like the lens and I quite like the less-than-perfect look of a lot of those older lens designs -- cheap Soviet tessar designs, biogon copies, etc.
thanks for the recommendations.

Try Luton Camera Repair, They did a couple of Om's for me and did a really nice job
http://www.lutcamre.demon.co.uk/
They will probably be too pricey though
