Call for Entries & Show Opportunity: Analog New Bedford
Previously posted at Analog New Bedford - but I thought the title wasn't specific enough.
Open call to APUG members who are interested in shooting film, making
prints, and participating in a group show.
Theme:
New Bedford, Massachusetts
Prints due by December 1, 2010
Show will be at Judith Klein Art Gallery
Second week of January 2011 to Second week of Februray 2011
Requirements:
. Film photos of New Bedford Mass. Current work (preferably shot for the purpose of this exhibit).
. Ready to hang FRAMED PRINTS, ready to sell (gallery takes 35%).
. Prints can be made traditionally, alternatively, or digitally.
. Color or B&W.
. Minimum 2 prints per photographer, no maximum, but gallery makes final decision on what to hang.
. No entry fee, but committed participation is necessary - we have a whole gallery to fill.
This is a great opportunity to show work, a chance to sell work, and an
excuse to come to an interesting part of New England.
Reply to (me) Elias Roustom before the end of September to commit.
New Bedford's historic downtown is a National Park, with professional park
rangers who can help guide your visit.
I'd be happy to meet out of town photographers to give directions, as I work in the city.
This idea has grown out of a walk some APUG members and I took in June. I'm up for more.
If anybody thinks this announcement should go beyond New England APUG, please pass it along.

I can't remember the name of the group, but I think there's a film shooting camera club in southeast MA. They may be interested in knowing about this.

Thanks for the reminder Winger. It's the whaling City Camera Club. I doubt any of their members still shoot film, but I sent them a link to this thread, and I'll see what I get. I hope we get some participation, or it's going to be just Bill and me. I wonder if we can fill a gallery with shots of each other looking into viewfinders.

No, there was a group who splintered off from the Stony Brook CC who are just about film (maybe even just slides). It was a couple of years ago, though, so I don't know if they've survived.

Elias, I've got your back.

Feast of the Blessed Sacrament here in NB this weekend. Should be worth at least a roll of film.
-
I'd be honored to enter something. I have a small exhibit coming up in NB this month and I am a member of the Whaling City Camera Club and I am indeed the one an only member that is still shooting film.

Alright Ektagraphic, that's fantastic. Start shooting.
How's the whaling city club? I might have to visit sometime.
-
Will Do! With the direction the club is headed with our new president, the club honestly isn't worth your time. I am going to slowly back out of it. It's all about learning how to use photoshop and I think that the new president is in it for his own benefit. We use to take field trips all over and this guy hates field trips......It was, for the past year, a very sucessful club! I had some wonderful experiences.

Thanks for the recommendation ; )
More reason to be grateful for APUG, Pure Silver, etc.
