I really did enjoy the interview with PE. Good stuff.

Thanks.
I'll be talking to Scott soon about doing another segment with them in the near future. It is a great site and a good partnership for APUG.

I just listened to the episode where Steve Anchell was interviewed, and it was very informative also. I thought it was odd how much he railed against Kodak though, saying that they have done more than any other company to destroy silver photography, and cited the T-Max films as an example of that. He said the "T-Max films are an inferior film by any standard" (tell that to John Sexton). From what I could understand (the audio was poor quality) it sounds like he said that the new Tri-X is now a tabular grain film that uses color dies to increase its sensitivity, which I've never heard before. Maybe I got that wrong, but that's what it sounded like. He said he tells people, "I don't care what you like; buy Ilford." Well personally, I don't care what brand it is; I buy what I like. I won't be buying HP5+ as long as I like Tri-X better, and the same for FP4+ since I like Plus-X much better. But I do buy Pan F+ since Kodak has no competing product.
It was a very informative show up until that point where he started making blind, broad statements about all Kodak products and engaging in unbridled Kodattacking. Geez.

Nick, funny you should post this. I just listened to the Anchell interview a day or two ago, and I was struck by the same thing--he really went off on Kodak, and he came across as a snarly curmudgeon, diminishing what had been an informative interview. Too bad.
The interview with Ron Mowry, OTOH, was just fascinating. Sounds like Ron had about the greatest job on the planet--you can tell he loved it (right Ron?
I have to admit that I've been listening for some time to Scott Sheppard's "Inside D*****l Photo" podcast, and while usually interesting, I've found the pulsating, pounding bumper music and the sinister-movie-voiceover-guy intro quite irritating. Scott's style is much lower key, and much more inviting, on this analog podcast. Hope he keeps it up.

Yes, I envy your career with EK Ron...and I'm sorry your former employer is so hated on this forum and in other places. I agree with Mike--the interview really was diminished by Steve's rant against Kodak. FWIW, I would have felt similarly if Ron had gone on a rant against Ilford.

Ilford is an excellent company. I use their paper and B&W films! I would never rant about them - or Fuji for that mattter.
This was an unsolicited comment.

I am glad there is someone else who feels the same way as I do. In the main B.B.C.radio especially those informative parts such as BBC Radio 4 are rather lower key
People listen to get good information and don't need what you accurately described in terms of the presenter's opening. I confess I got a little worried about whether Ron would carry things on in the same vein but of course he didn't.
I should have relied on my instinct based on what I'd seen of Ron on APUG. Sorry Ron. I should have had more faith.
PS Ron. Nothing wrong with the mid 1950s Liz at all. Unfortunately there is quite a lot wrong with a late first decade of the 21st century pentaxuser - at least appearance -wise. Still Mrs pentaxuser still thinks I am OK and that's all that counts
