Winter/Spring Schedule Announced

The upcoming classes and workshops for Spring/Winter '09 semester has been published. As we are expanding the range of offerings, now we are adding classes and workshops on digital photography. The new classes include Photographic Vision Digital I, Learning Digital SLR, and Photoshop for Photographers.

We carefully developed our line of digital photography classes and workshops to give photographers an opportunity to experience both analog and digital media options while aligning them in the context of technological development in the history of photography.

This is why Photographic Vision Digital I will be run concurrently along with the traditional Photographic Vision I. This way, students can see how the other half of the class is creating images and can learn advantages and disadvantages of the both medium.

ONWARD '09 Accepted Photographers Announced

This year's ONWARD was another success followed by our first competition which was only a year ago. The competition attracted 413 photographers nationally and internationally who submitted over 1600 photographs.

Peter Barberie, the Curator of Photographs at Philadelphia Museum of Art has carefully selected 73 photographs by 69 emerging photographers. The selected photographs represent a good segment of contemporary photographic work in approach, subject matter, and processes.

These photographs will be showcased in the ONWARD '09 exhibition at Project Basho Gallery during the months of January and February 2009. The official opening will be held on January 10th from 2 to 5 pm. Award winners and honorable mentions will be announced at the opening by Tsuyoshi Ito, the Program Director.

We look forward to seeing the participants at the opening in January '09.

Holiday Gift Ideas from Project Basho

For those who missed our fundraising silent auction for holiday gifts, we have several suggestions for Holiday gift ideas.

We are about to launch Project Basho goods, and our first one is a very sturdy and functional bag with the Project Basho logo. This is a black tote-style bag made of nylon with a front pocket in the size of 14.5 " (H) x 16" (W). This bag works great and looks great. We worked with a bag manufacture to customize the design specifically based on a favorite bag that Tsuyoshi Ito uses every day, who is also a well-known bag fanatic. More details will follow next week as we ship them. This custom Project Basho bag will be available for $20 (shipping charge will apply).

Project Basho also has gift certificates and gift membership to send to those who would like to take advantage of our programs and offerings. And if you become a Supporter Level or Patron of Friends of Project Basho, we will offer the custom Project Basho bag as a sign of appreciation for your support. Please inquire for more details about the holiday gift options at Project Basho.
