At your website I did not get wiser what the `Crossbird´ is all about.

    A E-6 film (Agfa RSX ?) in a cartridge designated as C-41?
I'm slow on the intake: So it is all about convenience for dropping off at a lab?

The film is made by Agfa-Gevaert, based onto the traditionally Agfa RSX II technology.
    We say: colour film.
We say NOT: colour reversal film
    Development C-41 for cross technology

The page linked to from Macodirect for the Redscale example carries this message:

(This WAS NOT taken with Rollei Redbird, despite what some German website might be telling you to sell this particular brand. It was taken with some 400 film that I redscaled myself. I repeat: NOT Rollei Redbird, buy your own cheap c41 film and redscale it yourself. There's no need to pay 5 euros per roll!)

We know what you say. What we want to know is what the hell what you say means!

So, from what I gather, the whole purpose of this film is to dupe mini-labs into cross processing without their knowledge. Effective, I am sure, but unethical, I am also sure. Additionally, do you think they won't notice that something is afoot after getting wonky results every time they process this "new" film?

What ISO RSX II is it? have you done anything to it so that it will not work in E-6 as it was originally intended? I have no interest in duping the local minilab...but I do have an interest in shooting RSX slides.

They AREN'T new films at all.

One's used backwards the other is just deliberately labelled incorrectly so that minlabs will process it. but as many still won't process Ektar that may not work as expected.

Two products designed to take monetary advantage of uninformed people...great.

If it wasn't for this wonderful Website, some (probably even "many") of us might be so uninformed.

The Redbird is at least a minor convenience...but the Crossbird is a lie to every mini lab we might use. It's entire purpose as a product is to lie.

IMO, this is a waste of salary paying people to design labels, and a waste of money paying to have them printed.

I heard something about an ISO 800 sheet film. Now THAT, I can dig...BIG TIME! Not these "new" films, though. We want real and unique films, not gimmicks.
