Project Basho Newsletter October '11: Looking ONWARD
Fall Workshops Fill the Weekends
As we move into late fall, the weekends at Project Basho are packed with exciting workshops. Each week from now through December, we'll be inviting a different visiting artist to teach a two-day workshop on a specialized topic.
On November 12th & 13th, Greg Miller returns to Project Basho to teach Portraiture: The Invisible Relationship, an exploration of the limitless possibilities of this subject. Miller recently visited to present and discuss his own stunning portraits in an informal gallery talk. In his workshop, Miller will use a dynamic mix of lectures, demonstrations, practice, and critique to present strategies for developing collaborative relationships with subjects and exploring new creative approaches to photographing people.
We also have two excellent offerings focused on digital imaging using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. In Lightroom: Weekend Crash Course, instructor Brandon Jones will present an comprehensive, integrated, and intuitive solution to the problem of organizing, editting, and outputting a growing library of digital images. Then on December 10th & 11th, master printer Kylie Wright will lead an intermediate Photoshop workshop focusing on the use of layers and masks.
Please visit our website for a complete listing of our many classes, workshops, and tutorials. If you have any questions, or would like suggestions based on your interests and skill level, don't hesitate to contact us.

On View: Within Reach
In case you weren't able to attend the opening reception a couple weeks ago, our current exhibition, Within Reach, featuring photographs by Keiko Hiromi and Tamaki Obuchi will be up in our gallery through November 23rd.
Keiko Hiromi's project "Monandock St." chronicles the everyday life of her neighbors on the eponymous street in Boston. The series is a documentary account of the strengths and struggles of her neighbors as well as a personal inquiry into her own role in the community.
On the opposite walls, you'll find Tamaki Obuchi's beautiful platinum-palladium prints of flowers. Obuchi's delicately crafted images exhibit an exceptionally fine, subdued tonality that is best appreciated in person.
Our gallery hours are Sundays-Thursdays, 12-10pm and Fridays from 12-5pm.
