Project Basho Newsletter November '11: Before the Snow Falls
Winter/Spring '12 Schedule Announced
Our schedule of classes and workshops for the Winter/Spring '12 semester was published just last week and we're very excited to share what we've announced! We have a wide selection of offerings for photographers who are just starting out or have many years of experience, whether you are working with film or digitally, or even combining processes. We're also happy to unveil several never-before-offered classes and welcome several new instructors.
Master printer Kylie Wright will lead a new 5-week intermediate-level Photoshop class on retouching and compositing. If you want to learn how to digitally shed the pounds you're picking up this Thanksgiving or seamlessly cut-and-paste elements into a background, this is the class for you.
Foodies will be happy to learn that we are inviting executive chef-cum-culinary photographer, Andrew Kahl, to lead a 3-week class on food photography. Students will learn the basics of food styling, lighting, white balance, and composition in order to make your dishes look as good as they taste. Of course, we'll also take breaks between shots to sample the subject matter.
Finally, we have scheduled many sessions of our popular DSLR Tutorials and created a 2-day class, DSLR: Shooting & Editing, for students that want to go further. Participants will practice their skills on location before moving to the computer lab to process their images and output to web and print.

Holiday Gift Ideas for Photography Lovers
The holidays are just around the corner and Project Basho has some great gift ideas for photographers and photography lovers.
In our bookstore, you'll find a choice of six beautifully printed and hard-to-find photography books by artists we have collaborated with over the years. These include four signed monographs by Andrea Modica, Larry Fink, Debbie Fleming Caffery and Shelby Lee Adams as well as two handsome collotype portfolios of Japanese artists printed by Benrido Collotype Atelier.
Photography classes also make a thoughtful gift and we have offerings to suit beginners through professionals. Feel free to give us a call and we can suggest an appropriate course for the special person you have in mind.
Can't decide what would make the best gift? You can also purchase a gift certificate in any amount. Certificates can be applied to any of our goods and services and never expire.
Books and gift certificates can be shipped anywhere in the U.S.
