What's wrong with my camera?
Sorry if this is in the wrong forum -- I couldn't find a beginner's forum on here.
I'm not sure if it's light leaks or something else, but I'm getting red bands in the center of my shots. Anyone know what's wrong?
Here's a particularly bad example: http://500px.com/photo/8493242
And here's one where it's less visible but still clearly there: http://500px.com/photo/7812231
I'm shooting on a Canon A1 with 35mm film.

I think you need new foam seals on the door. It looks like the film is getting fogged on the takeup spool. Put a piace of black electrical tape over the seam, see if that helps.

Thanks, I'll look into that later today. Which seam are you referring to?
-
The seam nearest the takeup spool, where the hinge is. I'm not certain that is the problem, but I can think of nothing else that would let light fog the film in that spot.

put tape all around the edge of the film door -- sealing all 4 sides and shoot another roll. If the roll comes out OK you need new light seals.
