    Building my 8 x 20

A couple of weeks ago, I started working on my 8 x 20 camera and I asked if anyone thought I was insane. I can now inform anyone who cares that I absolutely am. It's 6:00 pm here in the Palm Springs area and I'm about to head out to the Garage work shop to work on it - and it's 118 degrees outside (yes, you read that right). What has this desire for "Bigger is Better" done to me?

The water in the swimming pool is hotter than the hot water in the pipes in my house, the lizzards are melting to the sidewalks, the roadrunners won't dare set foot on the roads, and I'm going out to work on my camera (turn on the big fans). At least the beer is close by in the refrigerator in the Garage.

I encourage you to watch for an excessively strong mixture of beer and a table saw. Under similar conditions I had one bite me pretty good one time.

I'd go further-NO BEER AND POWER TOOLS, it's much too risky. So, how far have you gotten on your camera. Any pictures?

Well, I lasted two hours. I think I'll go stick my head in the oven and turn it on clean - it can't be much hotter.

Thanks for the warning on beer and power tools. Beer never comes out until all the cutting is done - I learned that a long time ago. Beer is for when you sit back and admire all of your progress for the day.

So far, I don't have any photo's to show yet. I've cut out a lot of pieces and have the design all worked out. Right now, I'm working on getting the adjustable back frame put together that will allow the format to change from horizontal to vertical. Hopefully, I have things designed strong enough (that is my biggest concern). I'll get photos as things develop further.

Dan, when the NEED to work on the camera arises you must feed the monster! Water, water, water! Work slowly and think clearly. Check and double check everything. It is hard enough to get it right in normal weather. Yes you are CRAZY! I LIKE IT!!!! Pic's when you can.

    Hi Jim,

I got the camera back support basically finished - couple of slots to cut to accommodate the adjustablility and that will be it. So far, everything looks good. I'll get photos posted when I have a chance.

I'm on the road all this week with work so won't be able to get back to it until the weekend.
