Shutter problem on Yashica-Mat EM
Hey,
I have a problem on my new Yashica-Mat EM. The shutter doesnt work at all, kinda feels like the chocking mechanism isn't working.
I have taken it apart, pretty much at least, see the picture.
And see the youtube video for a little more insight.
Do anyone experienced a similar problem ? Or know what I should check/try to fix ?
Also the self-timer isn't jammed, see youtube video #2 for that one.

Could this be a problem with the self cocking mechanism between the body and the shutter? There is also a problem created when you switch between M and X when the shutter is cocked, but I cannot remember what it is.

I stand corected, you should not change shutter speed with the shutter cocked. I just went to Butkus and looked at the manual for this model.

I believe the self timer will do that if the shutter is not cocked (vid 2). In terms of vid 1, it looks like the shutter won't latch in the 'cocked' mode.
Important info would be if the camera has ever been taken apart. If it has been taken apart prior, then it really could be anything and may be totally ruined. If it had never been apart before, look for a small lever that is frozen or gummed up on its pivot. Also, a pin may have broken off.
If it has never been apart before, there is a high chance that a flush with appropriate solvent will get it working again.

Thank you for the info, I dont believe it has been taken aparat, at least it didn't look like it had been, no scratches on the small screws or else, so I will try a flush and seef if that helps. Do you have any good reference's I can see for that ? A website or something ?
Appreciate the help.

Could it be that the shutter is cocked, but unable to release, therefore unable to recock??? Something in the release mechanism itself??? Maybe just a good cleanout..
