    Per, I'm working on trying to get a block of rooms at the Best Western Hotel in town. (16X20 Galli prints in every room!) The best so far is corporate rate of $59 / nite. This weekend I'll visit with the folks and shoot for $49. As soon as I've got a number to throw at them the better (even if it's a guess.) They're good folks and won't hold me to it.

    Check out the Tonopah pages at my little web page;

    What is the typical weather to expect at this time? (night and day)

    Also, are there some good campgrounds iin the area Jim? Facilities or no?

    Thanks

    Weather is a crap shoot! I chose those dates because right around Easter it really turns on the beginning of warm beautiful days. but if the weather gods are displeased....it can snow 16 inches, or rain 5 days in a row, or the wind can blow. Mostly it's very nice then. Unlike later summer months where it gets warm enough that you get very lazy mid-day. Nights in March will be very cool for those thinking of camping.

    [QUOTE=roteague]I would love to come, but I doubt that Jim would allow a color photographer in his backyard.

    Robert, I am sure you already know this, but I am going to say it any way!
    Jim has spent many years doing color work, and I for one can vouch that he is no "slouch" when it comes to seeing, composing and exposing and making wonderful color images. He is actually one of those guys that are telling the truth when he says "been there and done that"! :-)

    Gee Charlie. Made me blush with all that praise. Actually I'm expecting some color folks. Tonopah sits on a hill that looks west across the big open "Lower Big Smoky Valley" to the Monte Cristo range. We lack in most of the lucious spring colors that come to mind, but make up for it with our sunsets. Take a look at my little web page for some earlier color work there. You're right though, other than making my daily living I haven't done much personal work in color lately.

    No worries, it was more of a joke than anything else. The time I went to one of Per's workshops, there were only two of us who shot color - outnumbered by all the B&W people.

    The Best Western High Desert Inn has given me a quote of $59 / night. I'm going to try to shmooze them down to $49 but no promises yet. More later today.
