Which formats have the most choice?

    Greetings Fellow Silver Blackeners,

OK, this is just a simple question.

What format (do people think) has the most choice when it comes to film varieties?

    Cheers

I am unsure what you mean by "format." Do you mean 35mm vs. 120 vs. 4x5 vs. 8x10 or do you mean Aps vs. Full Frame 35mm, or do you mean 6x6/45?
It is hard for someone out in the California desert to keep up with what films are being discontinued. I have to assume there are more standard 35mm film types still out there. I have two cameras that take 620 film and one that takes 127 film. I can use 120 film of which there are some varieties available and use them in the 620 cameras but 127 rolls are not that easy to find or to get developed.
I am trying to figure out a way to use single sheets of film in the 620 and 127 cameras. It's all about how the camera opens up and can you put some kind of a film holder in the proper place.

I'm pretty sure 35mm has the most variety of currently available film since it's traditionally the most popular of all the film formats.

35mm, then 120, then 4x5, then 8x10, then 5x7, then all other formats larger and smaller.
No idea what's going to happen next, but I'm hoping it involves being wrist deep in chemicals come the weekend.

Well hoffy, your question is hard to understand ("what people think"?).

Concerning availability the greatest choice sure is among type135. Just that re-converting from other conversion formats added a lot of choice.

I would say 35mm but 120 is pretty decent.

Roll film has the best variety, but I think sheet film has the greatest flexibility. It mostly depends on what you want to do. I think the question sort of puts the cart in front of the horse.

35mm has the slight edge as you can always use movie film! (but that is becomeing an endagered species) Probable even witthout that as some of the private label stuff is 35mm only.
