Default Michigan Retailers

We'll be traveling from NY the first week of July and I'd like to find a retailer en route from route 80 in Ohio to the U.P. and then to Superior Wi into Mn that sells 4X5 film, T-Max 100 or if I have to, Ilford FP4+.

Does anyone know of such a retailer in or around Ann Arbor? I don't want to have to go into Detroit and I can get it before I leave NY but I would like to visit other dealers outside my usual stomping grounds.

TIA,

One of the few remaining camera shops hereabouts is Huron Camera in Dexter, just a couple of miles outside Ann Arbor to the west. I would definately contact them in advance though on the sheet film to make sure. They carry a good supply of paper, chems, etc. but they may cater to the 35mm market.

i just spend a couple of hours at woodward camera (birmingham, mi) and camera mart (pontiac, mi). nothing in 4x5 at either location. not sure whether you'd find much even if you detoured into detroit ...

might be best to stock up before you leave.

I assume you'll be taking 75> through Detroit and up to big Mac. Along the way but some what off course are two shops.

Adray Camera 20219 Carlysle St, dearborn michigan.
Take 75n to 94e to outerdrive north and then to Carlysle

a bit north in pontiac you'll find
Camera Mart, Inc
11 South Telegraph, Pontiac, MI 48341

Take 75n to M59 (huron drive) west to telegraph.

Good point about I-75. Your post specifically mentioned Ann Arbor as though you had a planned stop here, and then up US-23. If no stops planned in Ann Arbor, it is out of your way to the west.

Do call ahead. Michigan retailers have been a poor bet. Supplies have been so spotty of late, that I have completely given up buying film locally.
I get all my film from Calumet and B&H.

There is an Exit off I-80 just west of Toledo onto US 23 North. Goes just East of Ann Arbor up to the "Big Mac", and I thought if 4X5 film was available outside of Detroit it would be in Ann Arbor -- University town, etc.

I think I'd better stock up here before we go.

Thanks for the feed back.

Yes. Absolutely. It's easier to get a real bagel here than LF supplies.

You're right, now that I have my GPS hat on, US-23 north is a more direct route and joins I-75 around Flint. Anyway, you could try contacting Huron Camera in Dexter. They are only 10-15 min. west of Ann Arbor via I-94. Still agree with others, buy in advance and carry it with you.
