    Thanksgiving Kalamazoo

Any Art, especially photography, exhibits in the Kalamazoo area during week of Thanksgiving? Visiting wife's family and looking for something to do.

there is an exhibit of artwork salvaged from Hurricane Katrina at the Kalamazoo Art Institute that looks interesting. GF and I are planning to catch it.

There's an Avedon exhibit currently at the Grand Rapids Art Museum which is about 45 minutes north of K'zoo. I haven't been to it yet but I assume it would be a nice way to spend an afternoon.

Joe and Doug: I saw the Avedon exhibit a couple of weeks ago, and I can assure you that is worth the trip. I admit to not having studied Avedon that much, but I was absorbed in his photographs.

Just got back from Michigan visit, and must report that the Avedon exhibit at GRAM is excellent. A must see with many of his iconic pictures included - all printed large on silver gelatin paper. The GRAM building, itself, is an excellent showcase with well designed exhibition space.
