I finally managed to get around to printing the last of the cards this morning, after running out of paper with 2 more cards to go, and having to order some more.

I'll be addressing the cards this evening, and posting them out at the beginning of the week, once I can get to the post office for some stamps, so my apologies in advance for the cards being late

regards

geoff

Received the card from hal9000 today. The 'Palast der Republik' is getting smaller and smaller.

Hal, thanks again for taking the time to meet with my wife and I when we visited Berlin this summer.

regards

Birger A.

Received one more today. Thanks hal9000 for "Palast der Republik" That looks like tower which was close to Alexsander platz in Ost Berlin? Does store with name "Centrum" still exists? Brings old memories back.
Very nice combination ,film and developer. Well done.

Cheers Greg

Still on the Berlin theme, Birger's Reichstag mirrors have just arrived. The geometric patterns are fun.

Phew... I'm literally wiping the perspiration from my brow having just finished a - for me - mammoth printing session! But, the good news is all my cards are printed and drying as I type this. I bought stamps earlier today (the lady in the post office is now convinced I'm mad I think,) so provided I can coax my printer into producing the labels they should be in Monday's post!

Hi Greg, 'Centrum' was the name during DDR times, it has now been completely worked over inside and out and is the most upscale house in the 'Kaufhof' chain of department stores. You certainly wouldn't recognize it now!

Thanks Hal.
My parents used to come with the train to the station in east Berlin, so we used to go to pick them up. Food was very cheap especially if you smuggled exchanged east German marks at 1:3. The store floor was disinfected with creosote like S-Bahn cars. I can still smell it. I will come back and visit one day, my cousin still leaves at Obentraut St. I used to live in Neukoln, Panier Str.13.
Thanks again, Berlin is a beautiful city.

Cheers Greg
