Rob, 4 weeks ago whilst in very southern Germany, actually climbing the German side of the Alps with Austria, we came across a frozen waterfall.
One could hear the water running underneath, quite interesting. The temperature was about -18║C down below where we left the vehicle, it was really quite cooler up the slope I don't know just how cool, but face ache from the cold was hurting all of us.
As I write this it is late morning and an official weather station 3klm's away from my place is giving a current reading of 41.2║C with humidity of 10%, wind gusts have already exceeded 60 Km/h. We are headed for 44-45║C today.

Last week as an experiment, we cooked (fried) some eggs on the mudguard of a trailer parked in the shade. We weren't sure it was going to be hot enough in indirect sunlight, it was. They tasted nice between two pieces of bread. We cleaned the guard first with a rag, so all possible detrimental health concerns were allayed
