Default Monthly Shooting Assignment - July and August 2007

Ok folks, the May and June assignment has come and gone with all of the entries being really super photos. I dreaded looking at them as I knew that an unavoidable trip to the refrigerator would follow soon after .

Our winner was Barbara Ann and if you haven't seen her photo, it's definitely worth a viewing. I think I've been exactly where that young lad was many a time Unfortunately, I haven't heard from Barbara Ann, sooo ...

We had two runners up. George (copakeham) has already led us through one MSA, so I have contacted Wayne (waynecrider) and he has graciously agreed to step in for Barbara Ann and lead us through the next assignment.

Anyway ..... stay tuned and Wayne should be here soon with our next assignment, and unlike previous months, I don't know ahead of time what's coming so it will be a surprise for me too

You're up Wayne .... (big round of applause for Wayne)

cheers

EDIT :: I would really like for Barbara Ann to have the opportunity to claim her prize (this is all just for fun after all), so if no one has any objections, maybe we can slip her in between Wayne and the current MSA winner ?? (assuming she's ok and we can locate her)

Default Sharpen your pencils!

Thank you John and congratulations to Barbara. Hopefully she is just off on vacation and will return soon to claim her chore!

In the meantime I'll invite all of you who have not taken part in this contest to get out, take some pictures and join us. I'm shooting (pun intended) to get twice as many entries at least! If you need a free scan to join in drop a line to me.

So after some thought, and trying to pick a subject that is available to all, and in the normal course of life, I have come up with a rather generic photographic assignment, but interesting proposition for you all to pursue.

So, I have created a Photo-Journalist assignment.

Consider, if you may, that you work for the Apug News and the editor just handed you an assignment to do an article on summer. It could be anything about your Summer, someone else's, a local event, or popular summer activity. Your picture(s) and text could illustrate Summer fun, the dog days of Summer, Summer storms, a Summer get together, Summer chores, Summer vacation or anything related to this time of year. Is it hiking or biking, eating or reading, fishing or swimming or travel. Your text does not have too be long, it just has to tell us something about the picture.

So... describe if you will, thru your photographic skill, and by means of your ability to communicate thru the written word, something about Summer.

Now since we all write in this forum to take part and correspond with each other, you will need to post your text response in support of the photo with a link to the up-loaded photo into this thread. The best combination of Photo with text wins the prize. The photo counts 75% and the text 25% towards the final score. Good luck!! Multiple entries are encouraged. Extra points awarded for making us smile and entries with more then 1 picture. Hopefully all of you will take this opportunity to step outside your comfort zone and do something a little more creative.

Thanks for taking this on, Wayne. It's an interesting topic and I am hoping more people will join in, although it could be a little tricky for our friends south of the Equator!

I am hoping I can put in a few entries this time around. I had a few shots for the last MSA - some were developed, some not - but none could be scanned in time for the deadline due to unforeseen personal problems. Anyway, I am hoping for better this time around.

Good luck to all, and here's hoping for more entries!

Best wishes,
Sanjay

Just what I was thinking... Our APUG friends from down under might have to think a little harder about this one

Thanks for giving us a new subject.

Absolutely right guys! So let's invite our southern hemisphere friends to do theirs on their current season.

Shall we change the assignment to an easier one, meaning picture only? Maybe the writing was too much?

I haven't felt very "inspired" by this assignment either. I keep thinking of all those banal captions about "The Dog Days of Summer" while looking at all those trite photos of cute little girls holding puppies up to drink from a water fountain that you see in the local paper this time of the year.

Aaaaghhhh!
