Monthly Shooting Assignment, January and February 2008: Two People Doing Something
Stay tuned folks ... Sly is picking a winning victim for the last MSA and once that's done (not before ...) I'll get FilmSpocket in here to get us going on this one, so sit back and ... wait a bit
Well, after Sly's great choice for the Nov/Dec '07 monthly shooting assignment (Portals), and seeing how many exceptional entries there were, I thought, "Hmmm, I'm not sure I want to have to choose between so many excellent photographs, so I've got to think of a MSA that is either too difficult to shoot or something that nobody wants to do." Unfortunately, John rejected all of my ideas, such as, "Crime As It Happens" and "Kids Pulling Their Uncle's Finger", and, John was probably right in doing that. In reality, these two ideas can be used with the assignment we are about to embark upon, which is................."Two People Doing Something".
The possibilities are endless and I hope you all enjoy the assignment!
Monthly Shooting Assignment, January and February 2008 - "Two People Doing Something"
Oops, must have picked a dud for this month's MSA. Well, I didn't say it was going to be easy. I know taking pics of people is not the easiest thing for some people, especially when a specific number of subjects are called for. I also couldn't think of a better title, but 'two people doing something' is all I could come up with. I don't know,...take this on as a challenge and see what happens. You might like it!
Right after this message I'll enter four photos in the Monthly Shooting Assignment gallery as examples of what I had in mind. And one of them even illustrates how you can get away with having more than two people in the image! Now isn't that exciting? (I know. It isn't.) These aren't the greatest shots in the world, and I know it's still early yet, but I hope they will spur a few folks into giving this a try.
The following I copied from one of John's messages:
For any new readers, here's the basic idea of the MSA :
1. Read the MSA assignment
2. Take your photo according to the assignment guidelines
3. You can post your photo in the MSA Gallery : Click Here or,
4. You can host your photo elsewhere and link to it in this thread or,
5. You can post it right in the message here and it will show as a clickable thumbnail.
6. It's all for fun, there are no prizes, but at the end of the MSA, Sly will choose a "Victim" to lead an MSA in a couple of months time.
7. If you have any questions, please email or PM me and I'll be happy to help.
Good luck and have fun!
Marc

I was invited to submit from my personal gallary, since I have no clue how to post the the MSA gallary, I am posting to this thread.
I used a Nikkormat FTN, Nikkor S 50 f1.4 lens, Kodak Tri-X @1600 and processed in Diafine. This is a negative scan and shot back on Wednesday January 16, 2008.

Well, we have a whole 3 days left for this edition of the "APUG Monthly Shooting Assignment". There are some really excellent entries in the Monthly Shooting Assignment gallery right now, which is here: http://www.apug.org/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=508 , along with a couple of photos shown as attachments to messages, which are here: http://www.apug.org/forums/attachmen...7&d=1200675686 , and here: http://www.apug.org/forums/attachmen...1&d=1200866293 . It would be great to see a few more entries, though. I really wouldn't mind! It's tough enough as it is to have to decide on a winner so a few more images isn't going to hurt anything.
If you're new to this particular member organized function, just scroll up to message #3 of this thread for the basics. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions. Any question is a good question!
Wow! Thanks for posting these latest photos everyone! They're great! Today is the last day to enter and a few more images are okay with me.
John, I have to leave at 11:30 this morning (EST) to photograph my daughter who will be competing in the Michigan High School Indoor Track State Finals today at CMU (sorry, had to brag about her a little bit), and won't be back until late tonight. I'll contact you then.
I'll have picked a new victim,...I mean, winner, no later than Sunday night because I have to leave first thing Monday morning to go out of town for a week. Thanks again to all who have entered!
