Default Monthly Shooting Assignment - two announcements ... MSA players please read?

Hi folks,

Thank you for taking the time to read this public service announcement! I have two subjects;
  • Photo date: from time to time an MSA participant asks if photos must be taken during the current MSA time period. The basic answer is "yes". We would like to see contest entry photos be those taken with an MSA entry in mind. We will assume, unless it is noted differently in the submission, that this what has been done. However.....should you have a photo in your collection that you think would fit the the theme, and should you wish to post that photo anyway, then we'd love to see it, and there's no problem posting it, BUT...please make a note about the fact that it is not a current photo. And yes,the session judge will take that into account when she/he picks their victim.

  • My term as MSA organiser: is over for a while. I have some other stuff happening (all good stuff - I'm looking forward to it) that means I will have less and less time to spend at a computer, so I have asked FilmSprocket if he would be willing to share the duties of organiser with me. He has agreed, so until Marc needs a break he will be the leader, and will guide you through the next bunch of MSA sessions. When he wants a holiday, we'll switch back again.

I'll be checking in sometimes, and hopefully will have enough time to snap a shutter open and closed, and might even get to post a photo myself

cheers for now - and thank you for playing along!

It's all yours Marc

Default Bi-Monthly Shooting Assignment-BMSA

Thank you, John, for keeping this APUG event going and for running it so well and I wish you much success with the new 'road' you are taking in your life. I'm happy to help out with things here during your temporary leave of absence.

I just took a look at all 8 pages of photographs of the past entries in the MSA Gallery and was very impressed. I also took a look at many of the early messages of the MSA and noticed that one of the early issues that some members had when this first started out was that one month is too short to enter quality work. Which is why I entitled this message the way I did. I wonder how many non-participating members think this really is a monthly assignment?

Ladies and gentlemen, we have just under two months to enter photographs for this member organized function. I hope that in addition to our regular contributors, we begin to see new folks and others that haven't entered in a while. I find the MSA (BMSA?) photographically stimulating. Especially with this term's assignment, which is "On the Road" as suggested by 'ajmiller'. With John's temporary absence, things will continue as they have and I can't wait to see the upcoming photographs!

Okay, this message is long enough. Good luck and good light!

Marc

Welcome aboard as moderator Marc! I'm sure you'll do a fine job of keeping this thread going during John's "break". I really look forward to the MSA as a way to motivate me to get out and make photos. On the Road will take some thought, as I'm not much of a traveler, but I'll eventually come up with something!

Thanks for the nice comments, Barbara Ann. I'm sure, as you always do, you'll find a great "On the Road" shot to take and show us. I appreciate the fact that you take the time to actually shoot an assignment during the actual month(s) of a particular assignment.

I'm planning on shooting an "On the Road" photo this weekend. For additional inspiration, I've been looking at one of my favorite photography books "Pictures From the Country" by Richard W. Brown. He only has a couple of road shots on his website for you to see, but I love his simple style of photography. http://www.rwbrownphotography.com/ He just goes out with his Nikon F2, a couple of prime Nikkor lenses and he takes his time.

Thanks again and good luck!

Marc
