more emulsion pics.
Here are a few prints from the home made emulsion.
I usualy have some small blotches or spots on the negative, probably dust flying around in the dark room whith the dehumidifyer going.
Some blemishes are round blury spots one of wich can be seen to the right of the smoke stack on the steam engine picture.

Yeah, coating defects. I've seen those.
Very nice, congratulations. What was the ISO, can you tell us?

Kevin - good work. I love the little guy next to the steam engine!
-
ISO is about 3.
I tried to find a suitable picture in a book or other photos to use for the guy by the engine with no luck, so I used one of my studio test exposures from a couple of years ago. Just print to size, cut out, glue on a stick and place in hole next to subject.
What can cause the defects and what would be the cure other than an imperfectly clean plate?

Did you filter the emulsion?
Using a stainless steel (gold mesh) coffee filter will do wonders for defects.

Cure them or cause them?
Steve
Warning!! Handling a Hasselblad can be harmful to your financial well being!
Nothing beats a great piece of glass!
I leave the digital work for the urologists and proctologists.

Very nice, I think I actually like the defects in the emulsion!
Using film since before it was hip.

He means "cures" them.
Something similar to this is what PE is suggesting:

Filter the melted emulsion right before coating the paper or plates. It removes any bits of crud, solidified gelatin, or silver halide particulate that will make little blotches on the finished product.

Just make sure it doesn't contain any brass, bronze or copper. Then it won't cure them, it may cause them. Iron may also cause spots.

I used muslin cloth for filter material, maybe that is letting out small fibres and may not be compleatly clean since I reuse the cloth each time,I clean it out with hot water after use.
