Yes, of course. The formulas you have should indicate that as well.

Although, I have done all phthalated coatings that were just fine. Their main problem is that they were expensive, as phthalated gelatin costs a lot more!

yes - being fiscally responsible is important too.

I might add that you can do the nucleation/run with either type of gelatin, but the final grain size is slightly different in each case. Both work though. I've done that as well.
