    heating Liquid emulsion

    got a question I couldn't answer...

when using LE, and when to heat it, what would happen if one uses a micro wave owen? Will it ruin the emulsion, or would it be safe to do?

(In my darkroom, the water often suddently looses heat, so the question came up...)

    Anyone know?

Don't microwave, it'll damage the emulsion. Microwave ovens don't heat evenly and parts would be subject to very high temperatures

You could melt it and keep it liquid in a small (pre-heated) vacuum flask.

I use a plastic knife to gouge out LE from the original bottle - The resulting chunks get placed in to a small screwtop jar which is then placed in a water bath to melt the LE. This saves on repeatedly melting the whole bottle of LE and means you don't have to keep it hot for extended periods of time.

I use one of those electric single cup warmer things. I think they're designed to keep your cup of tea warm or something. Works like a charm.
