    Much better with the link.

Yet another over reaction of government. Maybe you will be able to have a demonstration in Melbourne and Sidney the size of the Trafalgar Square rally recently.

I can understand asking for wedding photography and fashion photography at those sites requiring a permit but tourists, no way. Next they'll ask you to check your cameras at the gate and suggest you buy postcards in the gift shoppe instead...

The cost of a National Health Care system. Price over runs and the strenuous burden of trying to care for everything that ails everyone for free means that things that should be free aren't anymore in an attempt to offset the cost.

In a (currently, and relatively) thriving economy like Australia's, that's not really the case - Governments are spending less per capita on education and health than they ever have (eg tertiary education spending (the sector I work in) is down to 1930's levels). I suspect other factors are more at play here.

That's paid for out of taxes, which are higher in countries that have universal health care. Think of it like this though: here in the US our taxes are still very high and we get NOTHING for them. At least Australians, French, Germans, etc. actually benefit from paying taxes.

So, are you trying to blame our Medicare system in Australia for this? Good old US of A, where the rich get looked after and the poor die of treatable ailments.

Anyhow, getting back onto subject...... Out of the fellow Australians, has anyone here been hassled? I'd be curious to hear of any real world examples.

I attended the Arts Freedom rally in Sydney mentioned in the article and in another thread gave examples of several of the half dozen times I have been hassled and threatened in the last 5 years. So, no, it's not a theoretical problem.
