Umut - if you want to generically talk about the price of bulk chemicals for use in mixing formulas available in the public domain, that's cool, but even aside from potential "grade" issues with bulk chemicals, I don't think it is fair to arbitrarily pick on Moersch Tanol or any other commercially available proprietary formula. Furthermore, you cannot really use an MSDS to decipher a formula.

    Michael,

I think you are wrong , same have been done at 2004. Check archives and see the richness of discussion. And %70 of that members are no longer active.
Do you want to be responsible to cut the way of few remaining active members ? I am slowly overdosing from these reactions , negative posts , not lively fruitful discussion. Only the wise men come and say you must not do that , you must not do this from their photography chair.
If you have other problems , dont bother me any longer , check with moderators and susan would like to delete my posts as ever.
By the way , I am not locked here , looking for other hobby websites to change the gear. If I find new one, I would like to not see the scratches on my negatives thread any longer also.

    Umut
Can you please ask easier questions ? One Apug members request .

If people in 2004 were arbitrarily targeting commercially available and/or proprietary formulas and trying to reverse engineer them based on MSDS information, it was probably mostly BS anyway. I wouldn't call that kind of thing a rich discussion. I guess we'll have to disagree on the ethics of this. But ethics aside, the MSDS does not tell you the formula, so the whole thing is rather futile.

A friend of mine has been involved in the commercial import of simple (non-hazardous) machine parts from mainline China, and the Custom formalities and clearance costs, with the carriage and the necessary certifications of quality and safety, add very considerably to the cost and time involved.
I really wouldn't want to try to import hazardous chemicals just for private hobby use, particular when quality products (Ilford, Tetenal, etc.) are still readily available locally from specialist dealers (who deserve to be supported).
    Just my opinion.

Agreed, I'd also trust U.S. specialist dealers a lot more.

Mustafa, thank you for your post. I have good experience with Alibaba and a do not trust specialist dealers more than any dealer from China. Maybe specialist dealers
deserve to be supported, but I also deserve a fair price for anything, available cheap in China.
