I believe a fixer should be slightly acid for decent longevity in use, but not so acid as to do harm to the image or be hard to wash out. Kodak F-34 answers these requirements. The fixer was originally used in the motion picture industry to fix 5247 color negative film (2 minutes at 100F in a machine processor, with replenishment). It was also used in at least one version of the P111 reversal print process. It works well with black and white materials, too. It clears modern black and white films films in less than one minute at 23C, and it can be used as a rapid fixer for prints at 2 -3 minutes. |
