    Film in the news--Polaroid/CNN

Polaroid has made it to the front page and leading headline on CNN - too bad it's just to let us know that the remaining stock is rapidly disappearing. Nonetheless, at least this will let people know that there are actually folks who still use and cherish analogue.

    Fans bid farewell to Polaroid

    http://www.cnn.com/2008/TECH/12/08/p...ef=mpstoryview

I first thought this was a doom and gloom article, but as I read it, it's pretty inspirational and nice tribute to a product we will all miss.

I agree. But times do change. I'm sorry to see it go.

Last month, I took my Polaroid 250 (vintage 1968) to our Photo Alliance meeting. It was loaded with Type 664 (B&W, asa 100) and I had a box of M3 flashbulbs. While people were talking about color management issues (whatever that is) and comparing pixel strength, I made a couple snaps. A few jaws dropped, gasps of awe issued when I showed everyone the prints. "You just did that?" Yep, I just did that and there it is, fully developed, ready to go.

What a resource we have lost.
