Film Developing In Pacific Northwest
I need to find a lab that give me good service at a reasonable cost. Develop only and scan to cd, no prints. I was using Kerrisdale Cameras but they upped their $$ from $6 to $11 and the negatives were rolled not cut and in sleeves.
Anywhere around Vancouver, Lower Mainland, BC, Alberta, Washington Oregon.
I got an email reply from one lab today that quoted $24 for colour and $26 for b/w - develop only and scan to cd. I re-read my original email and it seems pretty straight forward but but but, perhaps they included a cost for prints.
Thanks for any suggestions

Larry:
You could try ABC (look under consumer services):
http://www.abcphoto.com/index.jsp
G King Photocolour (price list):
http://www.gkingphoto.com/Content/pr...istMay2006.pdf
(NB. - no relation)
CustomColour (which is Lens & Shutter):
http://www.customcolorprolab.com/index.lasso
I've always had good results with ABC. The times I've used G King Photo I've been satisfied, and I think they may be slightly less expensive for low res scans.
Finally, and this may be heretical, but for 35mm colour snapshots I've had good Develop and Print results from the Queensborough Walmart, and a disk with low res scans is just $1.97 extra.
Hope this helps

There is always "The Lab" in Vanocuver. Their work is good as is their quality control. They might not be your first choice on price though.

I'll second G King too. I started using George back in 1979 and have never had an issue with him or his crew. (George himself is mostly retired now, a son, I believe, is running the show - haven't been in for a few years as I'm not shooting colour these days.)
And they're all a pain to get to from Port Moody unless you're going into town anyhow. (and that whole dig up Cambie thing doesn't make it any easier either!)

If you are willing to send your film to Portland Or, you should look up http://www.bluemooncamera.com. They do a really good job with various film formats and processes. They don't do digital for reasons of principal. Visit the website and you'll see what I mean

Gamma in Vancouver is good, too.

Perhaps I can help you?...if you're near enough...
I'm in Vancouver, and I work on custom small-batch film processing and scanning projects; and then some...
Depending on your needs and circumstances, I may be able to help you.
PROCESSING:
-Are you shooting 35mm or 120 roll film?
-what emulsions typically?
-any special processing requirements?
-how many rolls at a time?
SCANNING:
-is 48bit, 4800DPI scanning Sufficient for you?
-would you like quick reference scans to view electronically before choosing the GEMS that you'd like to have refined as scans, then burned to CD?
-are you wanting the CD images as uncompressed .TIFFs and/or as JPEGS?
-Are you wanting to edit the CD images further on your own in PS?
-do you ever require printing of fine B&W enlargements?
That's all the questions I have for now. Hopefully I can be of help to you in some way.
