    Something I remember hearing maybe useful. Whoever you're photographing, they need to feel comfortable (not hassled). This is 50% of the job done. It leaves you both free to record something genuine. Even trying out new techniques becomes easier once any tension is gone.

    Years ago I was told the difference between Ansel Adams and Edward Westons was that Adams made people look like rocks and Weston made rocks look like people.
    I guess the difference is the rapport yoou can create between yourself and your subject. If you're being critical of different facial characteristics. you're not seeing a person, you're seeing a face.
    That's the difference between great portraitists and $29.95 photography where one lighting regimen fits all.
