returning home.

I grew up in toronto. 5 years ago, when i left home to find work on another continent. Im really looking foward to coming home, visiting friends and the like. 2 years ago i picked up photography. 1 and a half years ago, i picked up analogue photography. I never looked back.

Im looking for tips and advice of the photographers culture in toronto.
Lots of rich kids running around with dslrs and not knowing how to use them? Street photography along queen? Distiliriy district? Shooting late night hang outs like timmies?
Big one. What about landscapes? Harbour front is too touristy and urban. Most of the toronto i know is too flat. Where do you go?sudbury? Kingston? Kitchner?

I certainly feel like i can rediscover my home again.

Welcome back to both homes, your Canadian home and Apug. As for the best places to shoot, they are where ever you are, so keep camera in hand and just shoot. Never worry if you thinkplaces are too touristy or flat, it's up to you to make them interesting.

Toronto is unique in the fact that there is so much to see (at least in my opnion). Yes there are the spoiled rich kids with their massive dSLRs shooting close ups of their eyes, or their friend's feet...but we'll just ignore them.

I do street photography along queen, yonge, and yonge-dundas square. And actually we just had a rather well attending Film Shooters meetup back in April. But for landscapes you really have to leave the city. Even if you go 45 minutes to an hour outside of Toronto there's lots of Hiking even in Milton up along the escapment, plus for waterfalls there's plenty in Hamilton as well.

Just stay tuned to the Toronto APUG channel. We're hoping to keep a series of regular meet-ups going after Axle successfully organized last month's Distillery shoot. We all have different interests but together have considerable experience and know-how to share. There's a shoot in Hamilton today.
