The photographic community has lost a friend. Ernest never hesitated to share his vast knowledge, and I thank him for all that he taught me. He will be missed.
My deepest sympathy to his family and friends.

A very knowledgeable gentleman, always generous with his knowledge, particularly on the Large Format Forum.
My condolences.

R.I.P.
I really wish I was more active on here.... I am truly in love with photography and would have loved to have met Ernest. It seems that while he was alive he made great contributions to this forum and the world of photography in general. I do know that in his passing he helped my photographic universe expand beyond any imaginalble limits and I am deeply thankful to his spirit for that.
I invite all those who still share this planet with me to get in touch and let's make a real-life connection happen. Let's walk together through this weird wild wonderful world.

Anybody has any idea of what I should do with a manuscript for his apparently unfinished book on photography? Hundreds of pages - both beautifully hand-written and typed... Sad to have seen it in a antique shop being tossed around like that.

Save it from being tossed around and sell copies as "The Ernest Purdum Notebook."
