Expansion and contraction developer - where to start

I have started with T-Max 400 film. Is the T-Max developer something that is capable of expansion and contraction development?

Suggestions on other developers for that purpose?

Comments on T-max film use when using expansion and contraction development?

    Thanks

    Todd

My understanding is that any developer is capable of expansion and contraction development.

The time in the developer will vary quite a bit from a -4 to a +4
development. I don't like short developement times. You may
need to take time in the developer into consideration. Dan

    Good Evening, Todd,

My usual combination is T-100 developed in T-Max. The developer works great with both expansion and contraction--at least up to around plus or minus 50% of the "normal" time. In general, T-100 is very responsive to variations in development time. I've also used the same developer with T-400 and had excellent results, but usually at the "normal" time. Experiment! I think you'll find the T-Max developer to be very versatile.
