    Ilford ART 300 is supposed to have a textured eggshell finish.

    You could call it that, but the surface is shiny, so the texture has to deal with reflection.
    This means that no matter what angle you look at a darker print, there is a sheen in the shadows. The blacks are nice, but you are prevented, to an extent, from seeing into the shadows.
