To David's question regarding the need for sequencing, I would reply by saying that the numbering system, aside from tracking holder performance, provides an easy reference during testing.

I really like Les McLean's practical method for testing film/developer/paper/paper developer combinations. Using his method, one can generate up to 15 shots of the same image.

Beyond that, since I am relatively new to LF (less than a year), I find trying new techniques sometimes involves some bracketing. Notching the film as it comes out of the holder is a real hassle in the dark.

I suppose once I find my "voice" with a set combo of film/developer and basic style, the need for testing and bracketing will be dimished.
