x-rite for pyro negs
hi
can you use a x-rite 810 color unit with pyro negs? what do i need to be sure to get with one should i buy it.

try reading your pyro negs on the blue channel

If you haven't actually acquired one yet, look for the X-rite 361T instead. Bob Herbst has written an excellent article about its use on pyro negs, which you will find on www.unblinkingeye.com.

Be sure to get the calibration tablet. You will need one, and it is much more expensive to buy it separately. And I agree with Rob, buy the X-rite 361T if you can.

I have both the 810 and the 361T -- you'll want the 361T.
Also, the 361T is the model that is still supported by the owners of the Xrite name. You can purchase the calibration reference, replace the rubber cup over the switch, and get different Apertures (in case you want something narrower than the one you purchase).
