    Can I develop XP2 in LC29 developer?

I have a roll of used xp2 which I now realise usually does the colour chemistry development. Is there any way to develop this in standard b&w chemicals. I have ilford lc29 developer.

    Your replies are much appreciated.

You can develop the silver image that way, but not the dye image.

The dye image is the high quality image on this film.

In the normal C-41 process the silver image is bleached and then fixed out (removed completely) with the rest of the silver.

It's not a standard development process.

If you already have a roll and the developer you can get the answer pretty quick.

    Interesting idea.

Imagine, a film that is designed to be developed in either C-41 or black & white chemicals. Afterall, people can get images from C-41 film developed in dektol, etc., so if this works, meaning it looks good, it could be pretty cool.

My gallery is taken with plus x and developed in C41 minilab. I dont know how this lab was succeeding it but Their old small Konica minilab were used by all student photographers in Ankara.

Remember that LC29 is essentially pre-diluted Ilfotec HC, which is very similar to HC-110 (See here ). This might help if you can find others who've done this (times etc.).

So, i developed the xp2 in 1+ 9 lc29 developer for a little longer than you would a roll of hp5. Then fixed with rapid fixer. When looking at the film, it seems to have developed ok, but not cleared in fixing stage.
As i used 1/2 the roll first the 2nd roll i let sit in the fixer (a new batch) for over an hour. Same result. I guess the rapid fixer cannot completely clear the xp2.

I am going to print some pictures later today, I will put up the result. It looks like its ok in developing, but a different fixer may be needed.
