Fs: Agfa Ansco 8x10 Universal View

Up for sale is this beautiful Agfa Ansco. This one used to belong to Peter Gowland himself, and was used and maintained by him. I purchased it directly from his widow after he passed. This is the nicest Ansco I've ever seen.

I think a post-WW2 Universal View. Triple convertible, around 600mm of bellows.

It's a great camera and I hate to sell it, but I'm trying to raise some money due to my wife's illness.

I'm asking $750 plus shipping. I also have 5 lensboards, one undrilled and 4 drilled for various brass lenses. I'm asking $100 for all five.

(Lens shown is not included but is for sale.)

Jeff, that's the much more desirable earlier version before the Bingham factory stopped camera manufacture and began military production during WWII, it's the first time I've seen this Gray version which is listed in the 1941 Agfa Ansco catalogue.

In fact you have the Deluxe Universal View, it might seem odd but the difference to the regular Universal was the Gray paint and the nickel plated fittings some had red leather bellows.

It's a better made camera compared to the later versions which were more cheaply made by a different workshop mainly for military use, there were slight design changes and different fittings.

I have an identical Universal View (not the Gray Deluxe version though) and also a Commercial View like yours the rear tilt pivots from the middle of the back, the newer versions tilt from the base.

This one takes 7 1/2" lens boards - large enough for most brass lenses, process lenses, etc. that you could throw at it, and much larger of a board than most field cameras will accept.
