    Alpa Si2000 with Auto-Alpa 50mm F1.7 lens

So I'm continuing to sell things I don't use to buy things I will use. Next one to go is this beautiful collectible Alpa camera. It is all metal, feels amazing when you use it, works like a Swiss watch. Meter is working, all shutter speeds are working and up to speed. Lens is clean and scratch/dust free. I put the new batteries in, the exposure light comes on, automatic exposure is calculated correctly.
The lens deserves a separate story - this camera with a lens was appraised at $800 while body only is around $200. The lens while being a normal 50mm focuses closer than a foot which makes it 1:3 macro.
The camera is in good condition, with a bit of dust here and there, some minor paint loss on the corners. Look at the photos and ask if you have any questions.

Asking $500 shipped to US or Canada.

This Alpha was based on the earlier CE II memotron, later 3000 models were rebadged CE4's.

Early in the 1970's, Argus/Cosina introduced the first Pentax thread-mount fully automatic SLR, using standard M42 single-pin lenses and slight pressure on the shutter release button. The meter switched on, the lens stopped down ever-so-quickly, and the proper shutter speed was obtained, automatically. Cosina also badged it as a GAF (Ansco) model.
This Alpa is, I believe, based on that same design.

Karl, Alpha themselves state it was based on a Chinon, they had NO links with Cosina.

The Chinons were at that point well designed and very capable but let down by poor plastics used for some parts. Their standard lenses were exceptionally good.

Yes this camera uses M42 single pin lenses. The reason that it can do so is the quick resonse of the special silicon blue light sensor. Top speed is 1/2000 and the viewfinder has a shutter for long exposures. The design is based on Alpa specifications. The black brass body is very well made.

The whole Cosina thing is a mystery. Cosina Camera reminds me of a family member nobody likes for some reason. The Rodney Dangerfield of camera makers. This family member goes on to become a well-respected heart surgeon, but is still shunned by the family. There is a partial list of cameras known to have been made by the Cosina Camera Co out there. The last time I saw it, I saved it, updated with a couple I know to be Cosina-made cameras and it is below:

Sometime around 6 or 7 years ago there was what looked like a complete and official list out there--pretty large and as I recall was a link posted on photo.net. I didn't save that list and the link was inactive when I looked for it a year or two ago. If anyone has it, I'd be interested in seeing it.
