Ries J600 Tripod, bag, Ries J250 Double Tilt Head

Ries J600 Tripod, Ries custom designed cordura bag, Ries J250 Double Tilt Head. This is a gorgeous piece of kit. Ries wooden tripods are known for their beautiful wood, finish, excellent machined hardware, rigidity and the fact that they work, yesterday, now and the rest of your life.

Ries J600 Tripod & case, J250 Double Tilt Head, $575. Shipping at actual cost from US zip code 44210, Bath, Ohio USA. For a shipping estimate Ries says the tripod and head are 10.5 pounds. I think the box and packing will add two pounds. I will weigh this Monday and report back. Paypal plus 3% or US Bank cashier’s check. No postal money order please. The Bath, OH Post Office is so small it took them five days to accumulate $350 the last time someone sent me a money order.

I have used this for the last 5-6 years for my light weight, eight pound 8x10. As you can read in the following Ries text, it is primarily for a heavy DSLR, medium format, 4x5 and 5x7. At one point I realized my Mamiya RZ67, my Linhof TK45 and my RH Phillips 8x10 all weighed eight pounds each.

“fits into a custom designed cordura bag that will work perfectly with your backpack .” At age 74 I don’t seem to be hiking other than being pulled up hills by John’s yellow escalator, two yellow lady Labrador Retrievers. It seems time to pass this on to someone who can use it better.
The wood is in very good condition considering the fact that I have used it. There are a few light dents but very few. Ries puts an amazing finish on hard maple. All parts are functioning properly. All parts are there and in very good condition. My wife and I have both worked cleaning the black bag. Once you have had a yellow Labrador, you will always have a yellow Labrador. There are a very few stray yellow hairs left.

The tripod has a 3/8"-16 screw to mount to the tripod head. The head has a 1/4"-20 screw to mount the camera. I have simply used the 3/8” bushing sold in good camera stores to mount the larger cameras. I am not sure if it is brass or bronze. This has worked for the last 5-6 years.

I stand behind what I sell. If you don’t like it send the same one I sent you back, pay the postage both ways and I will refund your money.

Following is better description than I can write from Ries’ website.
“J600 Most Portable and Stable in Size to Weight Ratio.

Ries J Series Tripods feature the Tri-Lock mechanism making them the most stable tripod in the industry. Wonderful tripod, but I made the mistake of putting a weapons grade Manfrotto ball head on top...which weighs about three times the tripod!

Mount a machine gun on that one and buy this beautifully factory matched package for your camera.

I'm somewhat confused with you listing a pricing. So, what I need to know is how much is the tripod with the head?

    Thanks

    Marc,

    Thanks for your interest.

My price is $575 plus shipping. If you use Paypal there is an additional 3% to cover their fees.

In the last two paragraphs of the listing I quote the current prices and descriptions from Ries’ web page.

If you give me your Canadian postal code I can weigh the box Monday and get back to you with charges. How would you want to pay for everything?

Here is an additional picture showing the individual pockets for the leg sections in the bag. I inserted a paper towel roll to show how the leg section pockets circle the inside of the bag.

This also shows that the bottom leg sections have a spike at one end and a rubber tip at the other. You just insert the bottom leg in the top section leaving the spike or the rubber tip extended.

Just back from the post office with information. The box and packing are large and sturdy. Total weight 14 pounds, 11 oz. There is a surcharge depending on destination for measurement. 32” x 12” x 12”. The good news is that the tripod, bag and head are heavily packed and more likely to arrive safely. I would recommend insurance. You can obtain rates at http://postcalc.usps.com.

The tripod is $575 to me plus shipping. Let me know if you have any questions.
