| Playing it safe and going back into I.T. work for a while.. Hi All,
Just to let you know that the current situation with the global economy has made me uneasy. So.. I have decided it wouldn't hurt to get back into the I.T. sector for a while and maintain my I.T. services skill set. After a few months of searching and interviewing I landed a great gig about 35mins from here "Windows Technical Specialist" for an I.T. services company. How will this affect APUG? For the most part it shouldn't. I did run APUG many years while working full time so know what to expect. Things were different back then as well, with a lot more strife in the forums. The past couple of years things have been smooth because we focused on the site rules and tone we want here, and have been lucky enough to have a moderation team/membership council to maintain that. I am confident things will continue as normal as well as improve. I'll be working with a hired hand more frequently as well to ensure our upgrades get rolled out and additional enhancements to the site get put in. The next scheduled upgrade will be end of this month.
Thanks!

| Wish you luck Sean. It won't be an easy year or so, and I hope that we all make it through unscathed. You have created something amazing here...and amazing things tend to have a life of their own ;-) |

| Best to keep those marketable skills sharp and current. The only true job security is between your ears.
Best of luck.

| That sounds like a sensible move Sean, the longer you're out of a technology role, the harder it is to get back in.

| We are all facing new economic issues.
I went back into the Natural Gas industry earlier this year for similar reasons. It has been a great choice, it has given me the ability to give up digital and rework my photographic world around film.
Best of luck,
Mark
